Asta Kovanen, RMT
Asta Kovanen is a Registered Massage Therapist with the College of Massage Therapy of BC and also a member of the Massage Therapists Association of BC.
Her completion of the 3 year program in 2007 at the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon prepared her to successfully complete the BC registration exams. The 3000 hour program taught in British Columbia is considered to be of the highest standard of massage training in North America. Students study many subjects during their training including clinical sciences, anatomy, physiology, therapeutic exercises, and pathology. A strong emphasis is placed on professionalism, clear communication, and the development of well balanced therapists.
Asta is has a particular interest in deep-tissue work, myofascial release techniques, cranio-sacral therapy and working with obstetrical patients. She enjoys working closely with patients to develop therapeutic goals that respond to their individual needs. Asta is committed to supporting her patients’ active participation in whole-body health and healing by providing homecare (stretches & strengthening), hydrotherapy and/or lifestyle adjustments.
Asta was raised in the central Cariboo region of BC and has spent extensive amounts of time traveling to Mexico and regions of Central American to do volunteer work with children. She had the privilege of translating for medical clinics during her travels and these inspiring experiences were strongly influential in guiding her towards a career in health care.
In her spare time Asta enjoys traveling, biking, time with friends and exploring BC.

In accordance with provincial regulation, all therapists at the Elements of Health Centre are licensed and in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturists (CTCMA) or College of Massage Therapists.
