Tendinopathy

Tendinopathy is a term used to describe dysfunction and injury of a tendon. A tendon is the connective tissue that connects muscle to bone. Tendinopathy may occur after suboptimal healing of an acute injury, or due to muscle imbalances and repetitive strain.

Symptoms of tendinopathy include:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Reduced range of motion
  • Reduced strength
  • Impingement
  • Difficulties with activities of daily living

Exercise therapy is the most effective modality for treating tendinopathy. Dry needling and manual therapy can also help to improve symptoms.
