Stephanie’s fertility journey

After working with a specialty in acupuncture and fertility support for 10 years, I found myself in the ironic situation of embarking on my own fertility journey. Like most women who have always wanted children but yet find themselves unable to become pregnant, my heart hurt tremendously.

I was 35 years old and I knew after 6 months of trying to conceive naturally that further investigation was needed. I was diagnosed with endometriosis when I was 18 years old so I had always wondered if I would have difficulty concieving, but I was not expecting my bloodwork and ultrasounds to show that I had a diminished ovarian reserve.

Over the course of 2.5 years I took “all my own medicine” with living a fertility friendly lifestyle, regular acupuncture treatments, daily supplements and Chinese herbs. I also had the incredible support of Dr.Hudson and the entire VFC team with assisted techniques as well……surgery, medications, and two IVF cycles.

My husband and I feel so very blessed to have welcomed our daughter, Shae, on July 4, 2012.

Everyone moves through their fertility journey differently and with different outcomes. From supporting others over the past 22 years and also experiencing my own journey, I do know that it affects you and changes you in ways you could have never imagined.
