Stephanie Curran, R.TCM.P

Stephanie Curran (she/her) graduated from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Vancouver in 2000 with a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma. Stephanie furthered her studies with advanced acupuncture training in China, where she completed a hospital internship program.

Stephanie has been in private practice in Victoria since 2000 and founded the Elements of Health Centre in 2006. She has devoted much of her practice to treating women’s health issues and has completed many specialized courses in the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for treating reproductive and pregnancy conditions.

Stephanie is open in sharing her own personal experience with infertility, click here to read more about her journey.  She has close working relationships with fertility clinics, is a member of the Full Circle Perinatal Care team and has co-founded a charitable organization called the Pacific Perinatal Foundation to help support people who experience reproductive trauma through infertility, pregnancy loss, and neonatal loss.

Passionate about working with women throughout their pregnancies, Stephanie completed doula training as well as extensive TCM course work in obstetrics.  During the years that she attended births, Stephanie integrated acupuncture and labour support in both home and hospital settings.

Stephanie has a strong background in treating musculoskeletal conditions and spent the first three years of her practice working at the Cedar Hill Sports Therapy Clinic. Stephanie is a past instructor at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Victoria, where she taught a course in blending both eastern and western sciences to treat sports injuries and soft tissue pathologies.

As a long-time practitioner of meditation and yoga, Stephanie threads mindfulness teachings into her treatment sessions. Along with maintaining a daily practice, she attends annual meditation retreats and meets weekly with a meditation group in her community.  She is a fully certified instructor of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through Brown University and has completed teacher training in Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting, Listening Mothers and Mindful Schools. As a parent, Stephanie is deeply moved and inspired to share the benefits of mindfulness with children, families and her community. She leads 8 week MBSR classes (general cohorts plus specialized programming for fertility and pregnancy), 6wk programming for those who have experienced pregnancy loss, courses for educators in local school districts, and facilitates a Postpartum Mindfulness Group.  Stephanie enjoys leading presentations and supporting mindfulness initiatives in her community.

Stephanie and her husband Chris, a registered massage therapist, have traveled to East Africa and Venezuela to volunteer and provide health services in rural, third world communities. When not working, Stephanie enjoys camping and exploring the beach with Chris, their daughter Shae, and their lovely dog Bodhi.

“Thank you so much Stephanie, for all your support and wonderful conversations.  As much as I value the acupuncture, I truly appreciate what you personally bring to it.  It does make a difference and I’m sure all your patients would agree.”
