Harris Fisher, Dr.TCM, FABORM

Harris (he/his) began his study at the University of Calgary, completing a degree in religious studies and philosophy (having a strong focus in East Asian religions and Chinese language). He then moved to Victoria, British Columbia to absorb everything he possibly could from the five year doctor of Chinese Medicine program at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Harris then travelled to China, where he completed advanced study and internships at the Anhui University of TCM and the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine affiliated hospitals. Fueled by a passion that continues to grow, Harris actively learns from experts from around the world to further hone his skills.

His relentless search for knowledge paired with genuine compassion enables Harris to deliver a level of care that conveys expertise and support, free from any judgement or agenda. Each case is approached with enthusiasm and he tailors his treatment to work specifically with each client’s unique needs. In doing so, Harris cultivates a sense of trust and comfort that grows with each treatment.

Since originally joining the Elements of Health Centre in 2007, Harris has further developed his clinical expertise in the fields of women’s health, endocrine disorders, fertility, obstetrics, men’s health as well as supporting couples for assisted reproductive treatments (IVF, IUI) at various fertility clinics. In his return, Harris brings a refined skill set in treating pelvic pain, vulvodynia and vestibulitis, ovulatory irregularities and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, menstrual cycle irregularities and/or pain, menopause, autoimmune thyroid conditions, erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation, prostatitis, as well as stress and anxiety.

In addition to clinical practice, Harris is dedicated to the preservation, education and development of Chinese medicine. This is exemplified through his involvement with the regulatory college of Chinese Medicine (CTCMA), consulting for and conducting research projects, teaching, and article writing. He was involved at many levels of the development of the national licensing examinations for acupuncture and Chinese medicine as well as conducting program audits of all of the Chinese medicine schools within BC. Harris was a co-author and investigator on a pilot study validating the effects of acupuncture treatment for vulvar pain (Journal of Sexual Medicine). He is also involved in an ongoing trial verifying the stress reducing effects of acupuncture for IVF support (Fertility and Sterility) and he has acted as a consultant for a randomized control study to investigate the effects of acupuncture for the treatment of chemotherapy related peripheral neuropathy in cancer patients.

Harris is registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese medicine (Dr.TCM) and a former fellow of the American Board of Oriental Medicine (ABORM). Dedicated to staying current, he is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS). Harris enjoys interacting with practitioners of every discipline and aims to build community amongst the various professions to establish a network of support for individuals to get optimal care.

Harris balances his clinic life with a love for the outdoors and sharing that with his wife and son. Whether on bike, board, boat or on foot, they enjoy all the aspects our beautiful west coast has to offer.

“I love what I do and I look forward to the opportunity to share it with you”

“I had been struggling with trying to get pregnant for almost 3 years at the time of my visit. I had my appointment with Dr. Harris Fisher and I’m so so glad I found him. I have never felt so heard and supported by any other health practitioners ever before.”
